MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA (05/09) - Chef Martin Maginley of Round Hill Hotel & Villas and the resort itself were stars of the Jamaica Observer' 11th Annual Food Awards that took place at Devon House in Kingston, Jamaica on Thursday, May 28. Awarded as Chef of the Year for two consecutive years, Martin is the only chef who has won the award twice. He also received the Dish of the Year award for his Oven Roasted Grouper Wrapped in Rum Molasses Cured Bacon with Seasoned Bammy Chips while The Restaurant at Round Hill was awarded Most Romantic Restaurant. 'These awards reinforce the caliber of our new Jamaican cuisine. Chef Martin's innovation in the kitchen highlights that the cuisine is poised to introduce the rest of the world to the flavors of Jamaica by using the freshest local produce on the island?, says Josef Forstmayr, managing director of Round Hill Hotel & Villas. An exceptional and highly acclaimed chef, Martin has also been named Chef of the Caribbean for two consecutive years as well as the recipient of 42 Gold, 27 Silver, and 19 Bronze awards from the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission. Since joining Round Hill, Martin has added new menus, introduced The Restaurant which now serves contemporary dishes; and offers the ability to enjoy a fine dining experience in the privacy of a guest's villa.
